International Bridge
The City of Del Rio International Bridge
Provides a safe and efficient border crossing for all citizens and is a symbol of the cross-border relations that our city fosters with Ciudad Acuña, Mexico. The International Bridge is owned and operated by the City of Del Rio and was originally constructed in 1930 and was reconstructed in 1987. The Bridge is four-lanes wide by 2,035 feet long, accommodating vehicular, commercial, and pedestrians traffic. It is a 3/4 mile walk from the existing Toll Plaza to the Mexican POE.

Del Rio International Bridge
Open for crossing between Texas and Mexico 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and continues to have one of the shortest crossing times along the Texas-Mexico border making it the first choice for many tourists and businesses looking to enter into Mexico through Texas.

Toll Booth Plaza Relocation Project

City Council approved the relocation of the Toll Booth plaza in 2006. Security and safety were two major factors in the decision made to approve this project. This project benefits the community by improving the flow of increased traffic potential as well as upgrading the software used to collect the tolls, and decrease wait times at the international bridge. On December 30, 2016, upon reviewing all bid documents submitted by contractors, Don Kruger Construction Co. was awarded the project, which will cost $5,162,503 and will take 14 months to complete. On April 12, 2016, the City of Del Rio broke ground for new Toll Plaza project.

Toll Bridge Traffic Plan b.jpg

Press Release
Del Rio, TX–May 4, 2016
On Monday, May 9, traffic will be diverted into one lane at the new toll booth plaza construction site. Barricades will be used to help with the funneling of traffic into one lane as construction continues. The last chance for vehicles to turn around and avoid going into Mexico will be at Alderete Lane. Any vehicles making it past this point will be in line to go into Mexico and must prepare to have proper documentation as they come back through U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Therefore, we advise all citizens to take precaution by planning travel into Mexico to avoid peak times.
