Description
The City of Del Rio currently is a recipient of a statewide Rural Public Transportation Section 5311 Grant Program. This program provides federal and state funds for the purpose of establishing and maintaining public and mass transportation projects. With the Section 5311 Grant Program in place the City of Del Rio is able to offer transportation to the citizens of the community.
Currently, the City of Del Rio Transportation Department has only one type of transportation in place. This program offers curb-to-curb transportation for elderly, disabled citizens and the general public of our community. Door-to-Door service is also provided for those individuals who are Medicaid-Transportation Eligible.
Mission
The transportation program was created to provide curb-to-curb demand response transportation services to the elderly and disabled citizens of the community. The program's primary service is to provide the elderly and disabled with demand response transportation to and from medical facilities. Other passenger destinations (not considered demand response) include trips for educational purposes, employment sites, retail centers, and social service centers.
