Alfredo "Fred" Carranza, Jr. was elected to represent the City of Del Rio, District I on May 5th 2018. Councilman Carranza was born and raised in Del Rio and graduated from Del Rio High School in 1979. He earned his BBA from the University Of Texas at Austin in 1982.
Carranza has served his community in many different areas. He has been a member of the San Felipe Lions Club for over 33 years, being elected as Club President in 1990-91. He is currently on the Board of Directors and is a Life Member of the Club. Councilman Carranza served on the Val Verde County Appraisal District for 7 years, elected as Board Chairman for 3 of those years. He was appointed to the SFDRCISD Bond Committee for 2 terms. Carranza has been active in youth sports as a coach and supporter. He is a board member of the Del Rio Texas Exes, supporting students attending The University of Texas.
Mr. Carranza is a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and is also involved in the ACTS Community serving the Church. Council Carranza and his wife Delia have been married for 35 years and are the proud parents of 4 children, Alfredo III, Alejandro, Allan Christopher and Kelly Victoria Carranza.
