What to Include in Your Parking Violation Report

The City of Del Rio supports public safety by enforcing parking regulations. Reports should focus on chronic or recurring violations. This service is not for immediate assistance.

Please provide the following required details:

1. Vehicle Description
   • Make and Model
   • Color
   • License Plate Number
2. Parking Violation Type
   Reports should reflect frequent violations, including:
   • Abandoned Vehicle (Sec. 17-126: Parked more than 48 hours, not operable)
   • Blocking Sidewalk (Sec. 17-135)
   • Large/Oversized Vehicle (Sec. 17-122, Sec. 17-123)
   • Other (Provide a detailed description)
3. Time and Frequency
   It is essential to specify the days and times when the violation occurs. This ensures an officer is dispatched at the appropriate time.
4. Investigation Timeline
   • Please allow 14-18 days for us to process and resolve the case due to citywide service demands.
   • Do not resubmit a request for the same violation before 18 days have passed.

Abandoned Vehicles and Towing Regulations

City Ordinance Sec. 17-126 prohibits vehicles from being parked or abandoned on public streets for more than 48 hours. Vehicles not meeting operable standards are subject to citations and towing.

Steps for Addressing Abandoned Vehicles:

1. A service request is submitted reporting a vehicle parked over 48 hours.
2. A compliance officer investigates and places a documented warning.
3. If the vehicle remains unmoved, a citation is issued.
4. Vehicles unmoved after 48 hours are eligible for towing as abandoned.
5. Subsequent violations for the same vehicle will not receive an additional warning.

Received an Abandoned Vehicle Warning Notice?

• Move your vehicle promptly.
• Oversized vehicles (Sec. 17-122) must also comply with parking limits.

• The Texas Transportation Code and City Ordinance Chapter 17 regulate parking on sidewalks, fire lanes, intersections, and other restricted areas.
• Vehicles violating these rules may be fined or towed.
