The City provides solid waste collection services to its customers through a curbside collection system. Solid Waste Department customers are provided one 96-gallon cart for the disposal and collection of garbage.
Residential garbage is collected once per week. My Collection Day
Make sure access to carts is not blocked by vehicles, objects, or overhanging tree limbs.
Bagged leaves, grass and plant clippings placed along side your solid waste cart will be collected during your weekly scheduled collection.
If you forgot to place your solid waste cart at the curb on your regular collection day, email email@example.com or call (830) 774-8501 to schedule a pick-up for an additional $3.50 fee.
If you placed your solid waste cart at the curb on your regular collection day before 6:00 am and it wasn't serviced, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (830) 774-3867.
Not Accepted Items
Do not place hot ashes, coals, concrete, rocks, large pieces of metal, tile, dirt, household hazardous waste (e.g., paint, oils, corrosives, batteries) in the garbage cart.
Store your cart out of the right-of-way on non-service days (i.e., garage or backyard).
If your cart is damaged, email email@example.com or call (830) 774-8501. Minor cart damage from normal use will be repaired without cost to the property owner. Any cart with damages as a result of abuse or neglect by the property owner will be replaced at a charge of $65 per cart.
The 96-gallon cart provided is the equivalent of three regular 32-gallon garbage cans and provides adequate capacity for an average household. If you have excess trash that does not fit in your garbage cart, hold on to it until your next scheduled collection.
Additional garbage carts are available for a monthly fee of $5.00 and can be requested by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (830) 774-8501.
New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are observed holidays. When the holiday is observed the solid waste collection dates are pushed ahead by one day during the holiday week.
